During the ebb of my youth, I wrote a line to you upon the sand,
committed to all that lay true in my soul and mind.
It was of The Wounds We Bleed.
I returned to the tide to read it and lamented but did not cry,
for in the quietness of the night, the beauty of the moon
and the dignity of the stars had carried those words
across voice and time like twins,
whose mouths had become the deepest red pain made sweet.
As if inherited from an ancient dream,
I called again to you in that great quietness,
in that heavenly perfume of hope,
begging you weep with me, for all words had escaped me.
Granting that as one of your children
that I forever be considered in my sorrows,
protected in my innocence and sustained in my struggles.
The day had now ended.
