“The Bread Of Angels”
Solo Exhibition

South Sea Art Gallery
Russell, Bay of Islands
December 2025 – January 2026

The Bread of Angels takes its name from a recurring line of prayer and dream-language that runs through this body of work.
<< Panis Angelorum >> - the Bread of Angels - is understood here as inward sustenance: nourishment not taken at the altar, but carried and guarded within.

Across these 21 recent oil paintings, the maiden as Icon and the Wahine as Witness appear as figures of endurance, devotion, and inner knowing. Text drawn from scripture and poetry is scrawled across body and garment, not as instruction, but as a private language of restraint, longing, and lived faith. Titles arise from dream sequences and act as thresholds rather than explanations.

Together, the works consider the tension between desire and devotion, nourishment and temptation. They stand as a testament to what sustains the inner life - quietly borne, protected over time, and blessedly kept.
